Dhaka National Medical College

Dhaka National Medical College traces its roots back to the Dhaka National Medical Institute Hospital, founded in 1925 during the Non-cooperation Movement in British India. This movement, led by figures like Mahatma Gandhi, Mawlana Muhammad Ali, and Mawlana Sawkat Ali, encouraged people to reject British-run institutions and create their schools and colleges for modern education. In response, two medical institutes

were established in the Bengal Province—Calcutta (now Kolkata) and Dhaka. The

Dhaka National Medical Institute Hospital was created to train local doctors in modern medicine. 

The institute holds a special place in history, with a visitor's book that still contains handwritten notes from prominent freedom fighters such as Netaji Subhas Chandra

Bose and Srimati Poddaja Naidu, symbolising the important role it played in the Indian independence movement.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission to Dhaka National Medical College

Indian students should follow the NMC (MCI) guidelines to study MBBS in Bangladesh. Here’s what you need:

●           Passed 10th and 12th grades from a recognized board.

●             At least 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology

●           At least 17 years old by December 31st of the admission year.

●           Must have passed the NEET UG exam in the admission year.

About Campus

The Dhaka National Medical College campus offers a variety of facilities to ensure students' comfort and convenience. The library is equipped with multimedia spaces for teachers and medical officers to study and conduct research. It has air-conditioned reading rooms that can accommodate 48 students at once, with shelves for up to 100 students' bags. There is also a dedicated prayer room for female students, clean drinking water through purification machines, and well-maintained restrooms.

The library boasts a collection of 6,232 textbooks and reference materials, along with local and international journals. The college also publishes its journal twice a year, distributed to medical institutions and recognized by the BM & DC. Students have access to the internet through HINARY for their studies.

The hostels provide ample accommodation, with 229 rooms for boys and 93 rooms for girls, each equipped with dining facilities. Students can enjoy meals prepared according to their preferences, and TV facilities are available in the dining room for girls. The campus also offers recreational activities, such as carrom boards and TV rooms for relaxation. 

The cafeteria is one of the largest among private medical colleges, with the capacity to serve 150 people at once.
