Ltd. in 1998, Health and Family Welfare Minister Sala Uddin Yousuf laid the foundation stone for the college on December 12, 1999.
The college expanded by acquiring six acres of land in South Surma, near the Sylhet-Dhaka highway. The construction of the college, hospital buildings, and administrative block was completed and inaugurated by Finance and Planning Minister M. Saifur Rahman on May 24, 2002. The institution now operates as an 800-bed hospital with a multi-storied college building. The planning was carried out by Ajit Kumar Panja, the state health minister at the time. Prof. Ajit Kr.
